Regular Examinations

At Smile 4 U, we strongly advise you and your loved ones visit us regularly – at least twice a year – to maintain an attractive, healthy smile; it’s the only way to guarantee successful management of your overall oral health. For every patient, a general check-up will combine identification of problems with preventive education. We will recommend maintenance – such as root canals, fillings, crowns, veneers or bridges – if they are necessary to keep your mouth healthy. You can be assured that the check-up procedure is the same for NHS patients as it is for those seen privately, and information about fees for all our services can be found on our fees page.

Fillings

White fillings, or composites, are used to fill cavities or cracks in teeth and can be colour-matched perfectly to your existing teeth to achieve a seamless and natural-looking aesthetic. They are an increasingly popular treatment, as they use safe, bio-compatible materials which bond with your natural teeth and can last for years.

Inlays and onlays

When a tooth is too damaged to be suitable for a filling, inlays and onlays offer an excellent aesthetic solution that is less invasive than other dental restorations, such as crowns. Made in a lab using your dental impressions, they fit accurately into the space created by damage or decay, restoring the tooth to its natural appearance and function.

Root Canal Treatments

Root canal, or endodontic, treatment is necessary when a large cavity penetrates as far as the nerve, or when the tooth breaks. The procedure involves removing the sensitive dental pulp at the core of the tooth, and filling the root space. In most cases, root canal treatment provides an excellent alternative to tooth extraction that enables the dentist to save your natural tooth and maintain the structure of the jaw. Root canal is carried out under local anaesthetic and is considerably less invasive than tooth extraction.

Crowns

Finally, crowns can be used to strengthen or build up failing teeth that may have been weakened due to root canal work or a crack in the tooth. A crown is a single cap that is fixed on top of a single tooth.

Bridges

Offering a fixed replacement for a missing tooth or set of teeth, a dental bridge is custom-created in a lab using your dental impressions. Supported at each end by a crown, the prosthetic fitting bridges the gap created by missing teeth. This creates an enhanced aesthetic appearance, supporting the jaw structure and making eating much easier.

Tooth Removal

At Smile 4 U we only perform tooth extractions when we believe we have exhausted all other options and the prognosis of the tooth is so poor that other forms of treatment are unlikely to be effective. We will explain all of the treatment options available to you and if you decide to have your tooth removed, the procedure will be carried out by one of our experienced dentists.

Dentures

If you have a few or all of your teeth missing, one solution is to have a denture. Dentures are a removable option for replacing a missing tooth or teeth – though they can be combined with dental implants to create a permanent, fixed solution.
